Stories From the Field: 8th Annual National Hmong American Farmers Conference

WCAHS attended the National Hmong American Farmers’ 8th Annual National Farm Conference on August 29, 2017 in Fresno, CA. This year’s conference embraced the diverse and multi-ethnic farming community and focused on “New Generation, Immigrant and Veteran Farmers.” Hmong, Lao, African American and Latino farmers joined together to share their successes and struggles as small and veteran farmers and farmworkers of the United States.

WCAHS asistió al 6to Día de la Familia en la ciudad de Napa el domingo 30 de julio, 2017. Este evento, lo cual se llevó a cabo en la calle, estuvo lleno de diversión y celebró a los trabajadores agrícolas del valle de Napa y a sus familias con danzantes Aztecas, mariachi, sorteos, música, tacos, y helados.

WCAHS Education and Outreach Expands

WCAHS Education and Outreach received a five-fold increase in funding with the 2016-2021 grant renewal and is putting these new resources to good use.  From October 2016 to April 2017, over 650 individuals were reached through WCAHS related educational events.  Audiences included farmers, farmworkers, farm labor contractors, extension staff, promotores, academics, policy makers, non-profit organizations, and the general public.
