Richmond Field Station, Conference Room 445 1157 S 47th St. Richmond, CA 94804

The UC Ergonomics Research & Graduate Training Program, UC Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, Bay Area HFES Chapter, and San Francisco ASSE present a 2-day course on the latest updates, techniques and tools to assess physical exposures in the workplace. Over the past few years, advancements in technology and well known and risk assessment tools have evolved and allow for more precise exposure assessment and interpretation. This course includes seminars and hands-on workshops for participants to learn about these new technologies and approaches to measuring physical exposure and assessing risk for musculoskeletal disorders.

  • Understand changes in the following tools used in a job analysis: Revised Strain Index (Composite & Cumulative Strain Index), Fatigue Predicting tools (Maximum Acceptable Exertion, ACGIH Upper Extremity Fatigue Threshold Limit Value, Cumulative Lifting Index for the Revised NIOSH Lifting Equation)
  • Understand how new technologies such as inertial measuring units, pressure sensors and software tools (Santos Human) can help quantify exposure, assess risk and facilitate job re(design)
  • Apply new technology and tools to the ergonomic job analysis process
